The School Uniform & Stationary Distribution program was organized at Yarsha Rashuwa District Langtang in Nepal on Sept 12-13, 2017. The project was supported by CLUB 0.7% FÜR ENTWICKLUNGSZUSAMMENARBEIT IM AUSSENMINISTERUM in which about 170 primary school children of 4 School benefitted.
We started the day long journey immediately after the monsoon season little did we realize that the battered rain had a heavy toll to the mountain and rugged highway. There were several landslides alongside the highway and frequent news of highway accidents. In one of the deadliest roads for a passenger bus, near Nuwakot a bus with 120 passengers slipped over the cliff some 100 meter claiming 10 deaths, fatal injuries and destroying a house underneath. The condition of the highway was either muddy or rugged because of debris flows from heavy monsoon rain. Finally after 6 hours drive we came to the final stop some 300m before the school. During our initial visit we were able to reach the school premises with our jeep but the collapse of the nearby mountain this rainy season had disrupted the road. The villagers were all waiting for our arrival and the students were excited to carry along the supplies till we reach the school campus.
The distribution was organized such that the other 3 Primary School Headmaster would join us in the Program in Thangdor Primary School. The Chief of the village and the President of Nepal Porter Association Mr. Norbu Lama chaired the program. The excited children, Guardian villagers and head teachers from all the 4 schools were present. The first welcoming program was delivered with some cultural and warm welcome from the villagers and the school management community following the National Anthem and background of the program. Mr. Norbu reminded the villagers the hope and promise our dear Austrian friend has shown on favor of this remote village to make an eco modelled village. The students seemed overjoyed in the Temporary Learning Center made of zinc sheet post-Earthquake of April 25, 2015 to be receiving new set of Uniform and Stationary along with sport materials as volleyball, football and skipping stressing out the importance of a healthy education with healthy mind and body.
The Villagers and the students were thankful to have gifts in time for Dashain "Nepalese Thanksgiving" where often children receive new dresses and blessings. The villagers were grateful for our true friends in Austria who were so thoughtful for people so far away and the ceremony was concluded with a tea break. We were thankful for the people who would go one such measure despite the hardship they endeavor to carry out such amazing hospitality. With mindful of wonderful memories of happy children jumping with the rope playing and studying such that one day they might be inspired to get better education and bring prosperity to this remote village .We are indeed so grateful for the CLUB 0.7% FÜR ENTWICKLUNGSZUSAMMENARBEIT IM AUSSENMINISTERUM for such a kind gesture towards the village students, in helping and to inspire them on dreaming their beautiful future with education.
